Procedure

8.0 g of triethylamine and then a mixture of 42.5 g of triethylamine (0.5 mole in total) and 14.6 g (0.2 mole) of N-ethylformamide are added dropwise, at 0° C., to a mixture of 60 ml of light petroleum and 38 g (0.4 mole) of α-chloroethyl methyl ether.
