This compound (42) was prepared from 3′-hydroxy-3,4-methylenedioxy-chalcone, 12 (2.7 g, 10 mmol), dibromo pentane (4.1 mL, 30 mmol) and potassium carbonate (2.76 g, 20 mmol) in dry acetone (100 mL) using the identical procedure as described for 39. Yield 2.7 g (64%); mp 87-88° C.; MS (FAB) 417/419 (M++1); IR (KBr) 1652; 1H NMR (200 MHz, CDCl3) δ 7.73 (d, J=15.6 Hz, 1H), 7.57 (d, J=7.6 Hz, 1H), 7.51 (d, J=2.1 Hz, 1H), 7.39 (t, J=7.8 Hz, 1H), 7.34 (d, J=15.6 Hz, 1H), 7.16 (s, 1H), 7.14-7.10 (m, 2H), 6.02 (s, 2H), 4.05 (t, J=6.2 Hz, 2H), 3.50 (t, J=6.7 Hz, 2H), 2.02-1.78 (m, 4H), 1.71-1.59 (m, 2H).
