Procedure

In a manner similar to that of Example 32c, by reacting 0.2 g (0.41 mmol) of ethyl 4″-(acetylethylamino)-4′-allyl-3″-tert-butyl[1,1′;3′,1″]terphenyl-4-carboxylate with 150 mg (1.24 mmol) of 9-borabicyclo[3.3.1]nonane, followed by addition of 1.25 mL (1.28 mmol) of 1N sodium hydroxide solution and 1 g (10.3 mmol) of hydrogen peroxide, 205 mg of ethyl 4″-(acetylethylamino)-3″-tert-butyl-4′-(3-hydroxypropyl)-[1,1′;3′,1″]terphenyl-4-carboxylate are obtained (yield=100%) in the form of a colorless oil.
