Procedure
After adding 0.904 g of Me3O+BF4− to a solution of 2.01 g of 2-(4-cyanophenylamino)-2-(2-fluoro-3,5-dimethoxyphenyl)thioacetamide in 150 ml of acetonitrile under a nitrogen atmosphere, the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 5 hours. Next, 400 ml of ethyl acetate and 300 ml of saturated aqueous sodium hydrogencarbonate were added and the organic layer was washed with 300 ml of water and 300 ml of saturated brine. The mixture was dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate and the desiccating agent was filtered off. The filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure to give the title compound (2.05 g) as a light yellow solid.
