To a solution of methyl 7-fluoro-6-(2-fluoro-4-iodophenylamino)-3-methylbenzo[d]isoxazole-5-carboxylate (3.77 g, 8.49 mmol) in a mixture of THF (200 ml) and H2O (100 ml) was added a solution of LiOH (1.20 g, 50 mmol) in H2O (50 ml). After stirring at room temperature for 3 h, the reaction was concentrated, acidified with 1 M HCl solution, and extracted with EtOAc (2×100 ml). The organic solution was dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated to give 3.09 g (95%) of 7-fluoro-6-(2-fluoro-4-iodophenylamino)-3-methylbenzo[d]isoxazole-5-carboxylic acid as a light yellow solid.
