Procedure
To a THF solution of [4-(4-isopropyl-phenyl)-thiazol-2-yl]-(2-thiophen-2-yl-ethyl)-amine (100 mg, 0.3 mmol) and ethyl bromopropionate (42 μL, 0.33 mmol) was added NaH (18 mg, 60%, 0.45 mmol). The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 30 min, and the excess NaH was quenched with brine and extracted into ethyl acetate (3×5 mL). The combined ethyl acetate extracts were dried over sodium sulfate, concentrated and purified on silica gel column to afford 3-[[4-(4-isopropyl-phenyl)-thiazol-2-yl]-(2-thiophen-2-yl-ethyl)-amino]-propionic acid ethyl ester (98 mg). LCMS m/z: 430 (M+1)+.
