To a solution of 3.63 g (24.7 mmol) of 6,8-dimethylimidazo[1,2-b]pyridazine in 25 mL of chloroform was added 4.84 g (27.2 mmol) of N-bromosuccinimide. After 2 h. 1 mL of a saturated aqueous solution of sodium bicarbonate was added. The layers were separated. The organic layer was dried (Na2SO4) and the solvent was removed with a rotary evaporator. The residue was purified by flash chromatography to give 4.66 g of the title compound as a while solid, m.p. 137°-139° C.
