Procedure

Cesium(II)carbonate (1.36 g, 4.18 mmol) was added to a solution of 2-bromo-thiazole-4-carboxylic acid methoxy-methyl-amide (500 mg, 1.99 mmol) and imidazole (135 mg, 1.99 mmol) in DMF (5 mL) under a nitrogen atmosphere at r.t. prior to heating at 120° C. for 40 minutes in the microwave reactor. The reaction was then cooled to r.t., diluted with EtOAc (100 mL), washed with 1M NaOH (75 mL), brine (75 mL), dried over Na2SO4, filtered and concentrated to a white solid. Purification was achieved using column chromatography (CH2Cl2 to 9:1 CH2Cl2/MeOH) to afford 435 mg (92%) of 2-imidazol-1-yl-thiazole-4-carboxylic acid methoxy-methyl-amide as a white solid. [M+H]+ 239.02.
