Procedure

To tert-butyl 4-((1S)-1-{[(9H-fluoren-9-ylmethoxy)carbonyl]amino}-2-hydroxyethyl)piperidine-1-carboxylate (0.95 g, 2.03 mmol) was added 20% piperidine in dimethylformamide (20 mL) all at once. The reaction was stirred overnight at 25° C. The dimethylformamide was evaporated off and the crude residue was subjected to flash chromatography using methylene chloride-methanol-ammonium hydroxide, 95-5-0.1% as eluent. This yielded the amine product as an oil that crystallized upon standing (0.392 g, 80%). MS (+ESI) 245.2 ([M+H]+); 189.2; 150.2.
