Procedure
A solution of 2-hydroxy-5-nitro-3-(trifluoromethyl)pyridine (0.36 g, 1.73 mmol), N-methyl-N-phenylcarbamoyl chloride (0.44 g, 2.59 mmol) and 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane (0.29 g, 2.59 mmol) in tetrahydrofuran (15 ml) was stirred at room temperature for 18 hours. The solvent was evaporated in vacuo and the residue was purified by flash column chromatography (SiO2, ethyl acetate:heptane (15:85)) yielding the title compound (0.55 g, 92% yield) as an orange solid.
