A solution of 4-trifluoromethyl-2-hydroxypyrimidine (0.49 g, 3.00 mmol), 4-morpholinecarbonyl chloride (0.45 g, 3.00 mmol) and 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane (0.34 g, 3.00 mmol) in dimethylformamide (15 ml) was stirred at room temperature for 1 hour. Water and brine were added and the solution was extracted twice with dichloromethane. The combined organic layers were dried over sodium sulphate, filtered and evaporated in vacuo. The residue was purified by flash column chromatography (SiO2, ethyl acetate:heptane (30:70→50:50)) yielding the title compound (0.66 g, 80% yield) as a white solid.
