To a solution of N-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-2-[3-(phenylmethoxy)phenyl]acetamide (4.5 g, 0.012 mol) in THF (20 ml) on ice was added the borane-tetrahydrofuran complex (15 ml, 0.023 mol). The reaction was allowed to reflux at 80° C. for six hours. The reduction reaction was placed on ice, acidified using 4 N HCl, then stirred for twenty minutes. The reaction was then basified with an aqueous solution of potassium hydroxide. The reaction was diluted with water and extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with brine, dried over MgSO4, filtered and concentrated to provide the title compound (4.3 g, 99% yield): ES-MS (m/z) 372 [M+H]+.
