To a solution of 0.5 g (2.19 mmol) of (1-{[(2-chloro-4-pyrimidinyl)oxy]methyl}cyclobutyl)methyl (1S)-1-(oxo{[(1R)-1-phenylethyl]amino}acetyl)pentylcarbamate in 5.0 mL of N,N-dimethylformamide was added 0.36 mL (3.28 mmol) of N-methylpiperidine and the contents heated at 90° C. for 3 h. The reaction was concentrated under vacuum and taken directly to the next step. 1H NMR (300 MHz, CDCl3) δ 8.05 (d, J=6 Hz, 1H), 5.97 (d, J=6 Hz, 1H), 4.41 (s, 2H), 3.81 (t, J=5 Hz, 4H), 3.63 (s, 2H), 2.45 (t, J=5 Hz, 4H), 2.35 (s, 3H), 1.97-1.91 (m, 6H).
