Procedure

Ethyl 3-{[(isoquinolin-5-ylamino)carbonyl]amino}-2-[4-(trifluoromethyl)benzyl]propanoate (Example 129, 23 mg, 0.05 mmol) in aqueous THF (1:1, 2 ml) was treated with lithium hydroxide (5 mg, 0.1 mmol) and stirred at room temperature for 20 h. The mixture was evaporated then partitioned between 7% aqueous citric acid and dichloromethane (2:1, 6 ml). A precipitate formed which was collected by filtration and dried azeotropically by adding toluene and evaporating to give the desired compound (8.4 mg). m/z (ES+) 418 (M+H)+.
