300 mg (0.82 mmol) 7-bromo-4-chloro-2-(4-piperidyl)-5H-pyrimido[5,4-b]indole was mixed with an excess of 2 M NaOEt and kept at reflux for 2 h. Then, water was added and the solvent was removed in vacuo. Following LC (CH2Cl2/MeOH, 0-50%), 160 mg (52%) of the title substance was obtained ESI-MS [m/z]: 375, 377 [M+H]+
