To a microwave tube was added tert-butyl N-[(1R)-2-(4-amino-3-iodo-pyrazolo[3,4-d]pyrimidin-1-yl)-1-methyl-ethyl]carbamate (1.7 g, 4.1 mmol), (2-fluoro-4-phenoxy-phenyl)boronic acid (1.4 g, 6.1 mmol), K2CO3 (1.27 g, 9.2 mmol), and tetrakis(triphenylphosphine)palladium(0) (213 mg, 0.18 mmol) and 1,4-dioxane (12 mL) and water (3 mL). The mixture was capped and heated under microwave conditions for 140° C. for 10 minutes. The reaction was cooled and diluted with ethyl acetate (50 mL) and washed with water (50 mL) and brine. The organic layer was dried (MgSO4), filtered and evaporated to obtain 2.56 g of crude tert-butyl N-[(1R)-2-[4-amino-3-(2-fluoro-4-phenoxy-phenyl)pyrazolo[3,4-d]pyrimidin-1-yl]-1-methyl-ethyl]carbamate. This was used in the next step without further purification.
