A mixture of 1-(4-chloro-3′,5′-difluoro-5-methyl-6-nitrobiphenyl-2-yl)ethanone (8.61 g 26.4 mmol) in 160 mL of methanol was hydrogenated in the presence of 0.86 of 5% Pt/C, under ballon pressure of hydrogen, overnight. After filtering off catalyst, the filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure to give the desired product. LCMS calculated for C15H13ClF2NO (M+H)+: m/z=296.1; Found: 296.1.
