Procedure
A mixture of 6.0 g. of sodium borohydride, 26 ml. of diglyme, 14 ml. of water, and 4.8 g. of methyl 6,11-dihydro-11-bromodibenz[b,e]oxepin-2-acetate is heated at 50° for one hour. Water is added and the mixture is extracted with ether. The ether extracts are dried with sodium sulfate, filtered, and concentrated in vacuo to provide methyl 6,11-dihydrodibenz[b,e]oxepin-2-acetate.
