Procedure
9.7 g (0.02 mol) of 2-(4-carboxyphenyl)-2-[4-(4-nitrophenoxy)phenyl]hexafluoropropane were suspended in 47 cm3 of thionyl chloride, a few drops of dimethylformamide were added, and the mixture was refluxed until evolution of gas was no longer observed. The thionyl chloride was removed by distillation, and the residue was recrystallized from acetonitrile.
Workup
- temperaturethe mixture was refluxed until evolution of gas
- customThe thionyl chloride was removed by distillation
