Procedure
0.4 g of NaH is added to a solution of 1 g of 2,2-dimethyl-4-(1-benzyl-1,2-dihydro-2-oxo-3-pyridyl)-6-cyano-3-chromanol in 40 ml of dioxane while stirring and passing in N2, the mixture is subsequently boiled for 10 hours and evaporated, and the residue is worked up in the customary manner. 2,2-Dimethyl-4-(1-benzyl-1,2-dihydro-2-oxo-3-pyridyl)-6-cyano-3-chromene is obtained, m.p. 130°-132°.
