Procedure
To a mixture of 3,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid (2.885 mmol, 0.445 g), thiosemicarbazide (5b) (2.885 mmol, 0.500 g) in anhydrous dioxane (10 mL) was added phosphorus oxychloride (3.751 mmol, 0.350 mL) at 90° C., and the mixture of sodium bicarbonate to pH 7 then stirred at RT overnight. The precipitate was filtered, washed with hexane, then dried to give the title compound. Yield: 71%.
