1-(4-Methylphenyl)ethanone (2.28 g) and concentrated hydrochloric acid (1 ml) were added to a stirred solution of 2,4,6-triisopropyl benzenesulphonylhydrazine (5 g) in methanol (20 ml). The resulting mixture was stirred until a dense white precipitate formed. The precipitate was removed by filtration and washed with cold methanol to yield 1-(4-methylphenyl)ethanone 2,4,6-triisopropylbenzenesulphonylhydrazone (6 g) as a fine white crystalline solid.
