Procedure

To a stirred solution of 3-nitro-1,2,4-triazole (2.86 g, 25.1 mmol) and triethylamine (14.0 mL, 10.2 g, 101 mmol) in THF (40 mL) was added dropwise Chloro(N,N-dimethylamino)methoxyphosphine (3.55 g, 25.1 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (10 mL) at room temperature. The mixture was stirred for 3 h at room temperature. The reaction mixture was filtered to remove the resulting salt, and the solvent was removed under reduced pressure to give the crude product as a yellow oil (4.56 g, 83%) 31P NMR (CDCl3) δ 134.9.
