To a stirred solution of 4,5-dichloroimidazole (4.62 g, 33.7 mmol) and triethylamine (18.8 mL, 13.65 g, 134.9 mmol) in THF (40 mL) was added dropwise Chloro(methoxy)pyrrolidinophosphine (3.31 g, 19.76 mmol) CH2Cl2 (13.4 mL) at room temperature. The mixture was stirred for 3 h at room temperature. The reaction mixture was filtered to remove the resulting salt, and the solvent was removed under reduced pressure to give the crude product as a pale yellow oil (7.76 g, 86%). 31P NMR (CDCl3) δ 125.9.
