Procedure
A mixture of 50 mg of (3-methoxybenzyl)-[5-(1H-pyrrolo[2,3-b]pyridin-3-yl)-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl]amine (prepared by method 1) and 75 μl of hydrazine hydrate in 1 ml of 2-propanol is stirred at a bath temperature of 100° C.-120° C. for 5 days in a sealed screw-lid vial. The reaction mixture is evaporated and purified by prep. HPLC (RP-18, water/acetonitrile), giving 16.6 mg of N*3*-(3-methoxybenzyl)-5-(1H-pyrrolo[2,3-b]pyridin-3-yl)-1,2,4-triazole-3,4-diamine (31.8%) MS-FAB (M+H+)=336.4 Rf (polar method): 1.34 min;
