A solution of 5 g (14.2 mmol) of 3-(1-t-butyloxycarbonylimidazol-4-yl)-1-iodopropane (prepared as described in Example 6, part C) is stirred in a mixture of 5 ml of trifluoroacetic acid, 5 ml of CH2CH2 and 1 ml of anisole at 0° C. under nitrogen for 6 hours, then concentrated in vacuo and partitioned between CHCl3 and 15% aq Na2CO3. Evaporation of the organic extracts affords the title A compound.
