Procedure
A solution of 1-acetyl-5-bromo-6-(4-methylpiperazin-1-yl)-1H-indole (D12, 0.60 g, 1.8 mmole) in 2M hydrobromic acid (50 ml) was stirred at room temperature for 5 days, then basified by addition of solid K2CO3 and extracted with DCM. The extract was dried (Na2SO4) and concentrated in vacuo to afford the title compound as a brown solid (0.31 g, 58%).
