Procedure

In methanol (7 ml) and THF (7 ml) was suspended methyl 7-(2-methyl-1H-tetrazol-5-yl)-2,3-dihydro-1-benzoxepine-4-carboxylate (324 mg, 1.13 mmol), and to the mixture was added 1N sodium hydroxide solution (3.4 ml). The mixture was stirred at 50° C. for 4 hours, and to the mixture was added, under ice-cooling, 1N hydrochloric acid (3.4 ml). The mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure, and to the residue was added water. Insoluble materials were filtered, which were washed with water and dried under reduced pressure to give 7-(2-methyl-1H-tetrazol-5-yl)-2,3-dihydro-1-benzoxepine-4-carboxylic acid (295 mg, 1.08 mmol, 96%).
