A mixture of 1-(4-amino-3′-chloro-biphenyl-3-yl)-ethanol (0.03 g, 0.13 mmol) and triphosgene (0.01 g, 0.04 mmol) in dry THF (3 mL) was stirred under a blanket of nitrogen for 10 minutes. The solvent was removed to give 6-(3-chloro-phenyl)-4-methyl-1,4-dihydro-benzo[d][1,3]oxazin-2-one as a white solid (0.031 g, 91%): mp 155-156° C.; 1H-NMR (DMSO-d6) δ10.3 (s, 1H), 7.72 (m, 1H), 7.62 (m, 2H), 7.56 (m, 1H), 7.47 (t, 1H, J=8.00 Hz), 7.39 (d, 1H, J=8.0 Hz), 6.98 (d, 1H, J=8.0 Hz), 5.50 (q, 1H, J=6.82 Hz), 1.6 (d, 3H, J=6.82 Hz); MS (APCI) m/z 274 ([M+H]+, 100%)
