Procedure
Prepared from 2,3-dimethoxy-6-methyl-7-nitro-quinoxaline-5-carbonyl chloride (13) 250 mg (0.80 mmol) and p-toluidine 180 mg (1.68 mmol). Reaction was carried out in refluxing tetrahydrofuran for 50 hours, and the crude product was eluted through a flash column (7:3 hexanes:ethyl acetate), 200 mg (65%), mp 214-215° C.; 1H NMR (CDCl3): δ 8.33 (s, 1H), 7.69 (d, 2H, J=8.3 Hz), 7.65 (s, 1H), 7.15 (d, 2H, J=8.3 Hz), 4.17 (s, 3H), 4.03 (s, 3H), 2.58 (s, 3H), 2.32 (s, 3H); MS (APCI): m/z 383 (M+H). Anal Calcd. for C19H18N4O5: C, 59.68; H, 4.74; N, 14.65. Found: C, 59.97; H, 4.68; N, 14.71.
