A mixture of methyl (3-hydroxy-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazol-4-yl)acetate (406 mg), 4-(4-chloromethyl-2-methoxyphenoxymethyl)-5-methyl-2-phenyloxazole (551 mg), potassium carbonate (484 mg) and N,N-dimethylformamide (10 ml) was stirred at 60° C. for 4 hrs. The reaction mixture was poured into water and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The ethyl acetate-layer was washed with saturated brine, dried (MgSO4) and concentrated. The obtained colorless crystals were collected by filtration to give methyl [3-[3-methoxy-4-(5-methyl-2-phenyl-4-oxazolylmethoxy)benzyloxy]-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazol-4-yl]acetate (595 mg, yield 55%), which was then recrystallized from ethyl acetate-hexane. melting point: 107–108° C.
