A mixture of ethyl 3-(3-hydroxy-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazol-5-yl)propionate (700 mg), 4-(4-chloromethyl-2-methoxyphenoxymethyl)-5-methyl-2-phenyloxazole (930 mg), potassium carbonate (750 mg) and N,N-dimethylformamide (10 ml) was stirred at 60° C. for 4 hrs. The reaction mixture was poured into water and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The ethyl acetate layer was washed with saturated brine, dried (MgSO4) and concentrated. The residue was subjected to silica gel column chromatography, and ethyl 3-[3-[3-methoxy-4-(5-methyl-2-phenyl-4-oxazolylmethoxy)benzyloxy]-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazol-5-yl]propionate (1.35 g, yield 88%) was obtained as a colorless oil from a fraction eluted with ethyl acetate-hexane (1:1, volume ratio).
