3-[2-(tert-Butyl-dimethyl-silanyloxy)-ethoxy]-benzaldehyde (2.375 g, 8.47 mmol) was dissolved in 10 mL EtOH. MeNH2 (1.2 mL, 40% in H2O) was added and the mixture was heated to 40° C. for 30 min. The mixture was then concentrated in vacuo. The aqueous residue was diluted with isopropanol and then concentrated in vacuo. This was repeated twice more giving 2.184 g (87.89%) of a dry white powder.
