A solution of 4-chloro-2,8-dimethyl-8-phenyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydroquinazoline (180 mg, 0.7 mmol), N-propylcyclopropanemethylamine (1 mL, 7 mmol) and 1 mL of 1-methyl-2-pyrrolidinone was heated in an oil bath at 160-170° C. for 3 h. After cooling, the mixture was added to aqueous NH4OH and extracted with ethyl acetate. The extract was washed with 1N NaOH and brine, dried, (sodium sulfate) and evaporated. Purification by flash chromatography (15% ethyl acetate/hexane) afforded 90 mg of cyclopropylmethyl-(2,8-dimethyl-8-phenyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-quinazolin-4-yl)-propyl-amine as an oil. MS MH+ 349.
