A solution of 1-(t-butoxycarbonyl)-4-(3-(quinolin-3-yl)propyl)piperidine from Step A (240 mg, 0.68 mmol) in 1M HCl solution (8 mL) in methanol was stirred at rt for 48 h. The solution was concentrated and the residue crystallized from ethyl acetate to afford the title compound (182 mg),
