Procedure

100 mg of 3-(3-benzyl-5-bromo-2-pyridyl)ethynyl-3-quinuclidinol (Example 22-a), 55 mg of 1-ethynylcyclopentanol, 50 mg of tetrakis (triphenylphosphine)palladium(0), 10 mg of cuprous iodide and 1 ml of triethylamine were mixed in 5 ml of N,N-dimethylformamide, followed by stirring in an oil bath kept at 80° C. for one hour. An aqueous sodium carbonate solution was added thereto, followed by extracting with ethyl acetate. The extract was washed with brine, dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate and evaporated. The residue was subjected to NH-silica gel column chromatography and eluted with 10% methanol/ethyl acetate, to give 93 mg of the target compound.
