To a solution of 4-[1-[6-(2,4-difluorophenyl)pyridin-2-yl]-2-oxo-4-(trimethylsilyl)but-3-yn-1-yl]-3,5-difluorobenzonitrile (from Step F above, 7.00 g, 15.02 mmol) in THF (200 mL) was added tetrabutylammonium fluoride hydrate (22.5 mL, 1.0 M in THF) at 0° C. After stirring at 0° C. for 10 min, the reaction was diluted with EtOAc (3×), washed with aqueous NH4Cl, H2O, brine, dried over MgSO4 and concentrated. The crude residue was purified using silica gel chromatography (hexanes/methylene chloride) to yield the title compound (5.31 g).
