A solution of 1-(4-(2-fluorophenyl)thiazol-2-yl)piperazine (0.13 g, 0.50 mmol), triethylamine (0.10 mL, 0.75 mmol), and CH2Cl2 (1.7 mL) was cooled in an ice bath, and isobutyl chloroformate (0.10 mL, 0.75 mmol) was added. The reaction was stirred at 0° C. for 20 min, diluted with CH2Cl2, washed with water, dried over Na2SO4, and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by reverse phase HPLC (10%-99% CH3CN (0.035% TFA)/H2O (0.05% TFA)) to yield isobutyl 4-(4-(2-fluorophenyl)thiazol-2-yl)piperazine-1-carboxylate. LC/MS: m/z 364.1 (M+H)+ at 3.87 min (10%-99% CH3CN (0.035% TFA)/H2O (0.05% TFA)).
