A solution of 5-bromo-3-bromomethyl-pyridin-2-ylamine hydrobromide (11.2 g, 32.3 mmol) and (3-morpholin-4-yl-propylamino)acetic acid ethyl ester (7.44 g, 32.3 mmol) in DMF (200 mL) was treated with triethylamine (9.5 mL, 68 mmol). After stirring at room temperature overnight, the mixture was diluted with H2O (400 mL) and then extracted with EtOAc (5×250 mL). The combined organic layers were washed with H2O (2×200 mL) and brine (200 mL), dried over Na2SO4, filtered and the solvent was removed in vacuo to give the title compound (11.8 g, 87%) as a yellow oil: MS (ESI) m/e 415 (M+H)+.
