Procedure
To a solution of 2-chloro-N-[(1R)-1-(3,5-difluorophenyl)-2-hydroxyethyl]acetamide from Step C (840 mg, 3.37 mmol) in THF (75 mL) at 0° C. was added NaH (291 mg of a 60% dispersion in oil, 7.28 mmol) and the mixture was stirred at ambient temperature for 1 h. Saturated aqueous NH4Cl (10 mL) was added and the mixture was extracted with EtOAc (2×20 mL). The combined organic layers were dried over Na2SO4, filtered, and concentrated in vacuo. The crude product was purified by silica gel chromatography, eluting with a gradient of hexane:EtOAc—75:25 to 25:75, to give the title compound. MS: m/z=214 (M+1).
