A mixture of 1-(2-diethylaminoethyl)-4-trifluoromethyl-6-iodo-3-hydroxy-3-(2-naphthyl)oxindole of Example 48 (300 mg, 0.527 mmol), triethylamine (0.15 mL, 1.08 mmol), and (PPh3)2PdCl2 (40 mg, 0.087 mmol) in a mixed solvent of ethanol (1.5 mL) and toluene (1.5 mL) was stirred for 7 h at 60° C. under CO atmosphere. Sat. aqueous NaHCO3 was added and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The extracts were dried over MgSO4 and concentrated. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography with 50:1 chloroform/methanol to give the title compound (273 mg, quant.).
