Procedure

) NaH (0.047 mol) was added portionwise to a solution of bis(1,1-dimethylethyl) imidodicarbonate (0.023 mol) in DMF (250 ml), stirred at RT (H2 gas evolution). The mixture was stirred for 30 minutes at RT. (5S)-N-[4-(chlorophenylmethyl)phenyl]-4,5-dihydro-3-(3-pyridinyl)-5-isoxazolecarboxamide monohydrochloride (0.0233 mol) was added portionwise and the resulting reaction mixture was stirred vigorously for 1 hour at RT (H2 gas evolution). The solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure. The residue was partitioned between water and CH2Cl2. The separated organic layer was dried (MgSO4), filtered and the solvent evaporated under reduced pressure, yielding 1,1-dimethylethyl (5S)-[[4-[[[4,5-dihydro-3-(3-pyridinyl)-5-isoxazolyl]carbonyl]amino]phenyl]phenylmethyl][(1,1-dimethylethoxy)carbonyl]carbamate (compound 501).
