Procedure
A suspension of 3.38 g of 5-chlorosulfonyl-2-oxindole in 10 mL of 2M methylamine in tetrahydrofuran was stirred at room temperature for 4 hours. The precipitate was collected by vacuum filtration, washed twice with 5 mL of water each time and dried under vacuum at 40° C. overnight to give 3.0 g (88% yield) of 5-methylaminosulfonyl-2-oxindole. 1H-NMR (300 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ 10.87 (br s, 1H, NH), 7.86 (br s, 1H, SO2NH), 7.61 (d, 1H), 7.32 (d, 1H), 6.97 (d, 1H), 2.53 (s, 2H, CH2), 2.36 (s, 3H, NHCH3). MS m/z 226 [M].
