Procedure
A mixture of 1,2-epoxy-3-(4-nitrophenoxy)propane (4 g) and 6,7-dimethoxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline (5.4 g) in isopropanol (100 ml) was heated under reflux for 3 h and evaporated. The residue was purified by column chromatography to give the title compound (7.6 g) as a yellow oil which solidified on standing.
