Procedure
To an ice-cooled solution of 1.26 g (0.0086 mol) of product from Step C and 1.44 g (0.0142 mol) of triethylamine in 25 ml of methylene chloride was added dropwise 0.75 g (0.0095 mol) of acetyl chloride. The solution was stirred for four hours at 0° C., after which time it was washed with water, a saturated solution of sodium bicarbonate, and water. The organic phase was dried (MgSO4), filtered, and evaporated to give 1.52 g (94%) of product.
