Procedure

To a stirred solution of 5-amino4-(E-1,2-dibromopropenyl)-3-cyano-1-(2,6-dichloro-4-trifluoromethylphenyl)pyrazole (0.06 g) in tetrahydrofuran (1.5 ml) was added t-butyl nitrite (0.05 ml). The reaction mixture was heated at 60° C. for two hours. The reaction mixture was then evaporated and the residue was purified by column chromatography on silica gel (5 g) eluted with hexane: dichloromethane (100:0 to 20:70). Combination and evaporation of suitable fractions gave the title compound as a white solid, m.p. 134-135° C.
