By essentially following the procedure outlined in Example 1, Part D, the title compound was prepared from 2-(4-methoxyphenyl)benzo[b]thiophen-3-yl 4-methoxyphenyl ketone (Part B) as a yellow solid in 93% yield following radial chromatography (SiO2; gradient of 20-40% EtOAc in hexanes).
