PROCEDURE

To an ambient solution of Example 54C (0.450 g, 1.17 mmol), triethylamine (0.178 mL, 1.28 mmol), and 4-dimethylaminopyridine (0.005 g, 0.041 mmol) in dichloromethane (3 mL) was added p-toluenesulfonate chloride (0.224 g, 1.17 mmol). The reaction was stirred at room temperature for 8 h and was then partitioned between water (10 mL) and diethyl ether (10 mL). The layers were separated, and the aqueous was extracted with additional diethyl ether (2×10 mL). The combined organic layers were dried with anhydrous Na2SO4, filtered, and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by MPLC (10% ethyl acetate in hexane to 25% ethyl acetate in hexane) to give the title product. MS (ESI) m/z 541 [M+H]+.
