A mixture of spray-dried KF (80 mg, 1.39 mmol), intermediate 3 (100 mg, 0.27 mmol) and catalytic amount of 18-crown-6 in dry DMSO (4 mL) was stirred at 110-120° C. for 10 min. Work-up of the reaction mixture as described in example 1 gave the product as a pale yellow color solid (51 mg, 55%), mp 84-86° C. 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3): δ 8.50 (1H, dd, J=6.8, 1.6 Hz), 8.10-8.13 (1H, m), 7.34-7.39 (6H, m), 6.90 (1H, br s), 5.23 (2H, s), 4.28 (2H, d, J=5.2 Hz); LC-MS (negative ion mode): m/z 331 (M−H)−.
