Procedure
A solution (32 mg, 0.095 mmol) of 2-[(1-chloronaphthalen-2-yl)oxy]-N-(furan-2 ylmethyl)ethanaminium chloride (1) in 5 mL of THF was treated with 21 mg (0.15 mmol) of K2CO3 and 6 μL (0.100 mmol) of MeI. The resulting mixture was stirred for 14 h at room temperature. The solvent was distilled off under vacuum and the crude was triturated for 1 h in 5 mL of di-isopropyl ether. Pure 2-[(1-chloronaphthalen-2-yl)oxy]-N-(furan-2-ylmethyl)-N-methylethanamine was obtained after decantation of ether as a pale yellow oil in 91% yield.
